Balachandran Krishnan (Balu) is a cofounder and director of IRIS Business Services, the India head quartered, global XBRL solutions and financial information provider. He brings about twenty four years of rich experience in financial analysis, investment research, and XBRL based information supply chains.
Balachandran is associated with the XBRL movement in India right from the very early days. He has led several of IRIS’ XBRL training sessions for Indian regulators and accountants and has been a regular speaker on the Indian financial information environment and XBRL adoption, both in India and abroad. He also has been deeply involved in IRIS’ several XBRL projects across the world. He was a member of the subcommittee constituted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India on XBRL as well as a member of the steering committee for preparing a comprehensive framework for fraud prediction model of the Serious Fraud Investigation Office. Currently, he is serving as a member of the IFRS Taxonomy Consultative Group. Balachandran holds an MBA in finance from the ranked Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore), with a basic degree in chemical engineering.
